Oliver Walter “Bud” Hills, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died on Sept. 22, 2023, at the age of 89.

Oliver was born on June 23, 1934 to Joseph and Susan (McKenzie) Hills in Bowesmont, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Bowesmont, where he graduated high school in 1953. Bud attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. He went on to become a machinist at JR Simplot. On April 6, 1974 he was united in marriage to Gladys Anderson in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They made their home and raised their kids in Grand Forks. After working at JR Simplot for 40 years, Bud retired on Jan. 3, 2013. He then became a driver for Douglas Place Recovery Center.

Bud was a hard worker his whole life, and one of the most selfless people you would meet. He could also fix anything and was great with his hands. Bud was an avid sports fan of his grandkids; he loved attending all their events. He enjoyed puzzles, sudoku, casinos, and he loved being with his wife, Gladys, until her death in 2010. If there is a casino in heaven, Bud & Gladys are already there!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; sisters, Evelyn, Phyllis, and Lillian; and brothers, John 'Jack' and Donald.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Kimberley (Jim) Enlow of Grand Forks; son, Andrew Hills of Fargo; stepson, Brian (Tammy) Huard of California; grandchildren, Pamela (Billy) McAlister, Jennifer (Greg Hanshew) Huard, Brian Huard Jr., Cory (Vanessa) Huard, Tanner (Sierra) Enlow, and Bailee Enlow; great-grandchildren, Will and Cooper, Sophie and Addyson, Blake and Kylie, Liam, and Goldie Gladys and Audrey; sisters, Thelma Fritz of Texas and Maxine Wilson of Cavalier, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave NW, East Grand Forks, Minnesota. The service will be Livestreamed on Bud's page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com.
